Robert Harmon oversaw construction projects at Amazon and site selection for Tesla’s first Gigafactory.
WASHINGTON — September 23, 2025 — The Nuclear Company, which is leading gigawatt-scale deployment of nuclear power across America and pioneering the modernization of nuclear construction, today announced the hiring of Robert Harmon as Chief Legal Officer. Harmon brings nearly 20 years of legal experience, including more than a decade at Amazon and Tesla that included overseeing the opening of Tesla’s global headquarters.
“Robert’s well known for building trusted, high-performing teams and operating decisively in fast-paced, high-stakes environments,” said The Nuclear Company Co-founder & CEO Jonathan Webb. “His rare interdisciplinary background in engineering, real estate development and law will be vital as we deploy nuclear across America.”
Despite the need for nuclear’s firm, clean baseload power, the biggest challenges facing the industry are that nuclear projects are almost always over budget and behind schedule. The Nuclear Company is working with Palantir and developing NOS, the first AI-driven software system built exclusively for nuclear construction. NOS will transform the construction of nuclear reactors into a data-driven, predictable process, enabling The Nuclear Company to build plants faster and safer for less.
Harmon’s extensive work at two transformative companies in Amazon and Tesla brings unrivaled experience to The Nuclear Company. He spent more than six years at Amazon, where he led energy, real estate and construction initiatives. He oversaw construction projects, as well as the acquisition and leasing of more than 1.5 million square feet of warehouse, office and retail space. At Tesla, he served as Deputy General Counsel and Director of Real Estate, overseeing the negotiation of Tesla’s global headquarters as well as site selection for the automaker’s first Gigafactory.
“I’ve seen firsthand from my work at two of the world’s largest companies just how vital energy is to economic growth,” Harmon said. “The Nuclear Company’s focus on generating abundant, clean energy is essential to ensuring America’s role as the global economic leader.”
Harmon graduated from Columbia University with a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering and economics then earned his juris doctor from the University of Michigan. He also completed a graduate certificate program in real estate development at the University of Michigan.
